Details
Grade 5 Music Theory Revision booklet provides practice for topics covered in the Grade 5 exam syllabus (Associated Board and Trinity College London) and assumes knowledge of all previous grades. Grade Five is one of the most popular music theory courses to study because a pass in Grade Five theory is needed if you want to take Grade Six or higher in any instrument. The booklet is divided into four chapters (Chapter 1: Notation, Chapter Two: Time, Chapter 3: Tonality and Chapter 4: General musicianship).
Grade 5 Music Theory Revision Booklet provides practice for all topics covered in the Grade 5 exam syllabus of both Associated Board and Trinity College London. It is the last in the All-In-One series of graded music theory revision booklets. Wording wherever possible is the same as that used by the relevant exam board so that students will feel well prepared and confident in the final stages before an exam [added note: these Revision Booklets were published before 2018, therefore the wording of questions isn’t quite the same in a few places as those found in ABRSM exam papers printed after January 2018. Subject matter remains the same apart from the fact these test papers still retain the compositional exercises which the new exams omit].
As with all the ‘All-In-One’ revision booklets, the first four chapters of the book should be completed by both Associated Board and Trinity College London students whilst the remaining four page appendix is for Trinity College London students only. The appendix tests knowledge of subjects beyond Grade 5 ABRSM requirements; the pentatonic scale, inverted intervals, broken chords, diminished supertonic chord, writing 4-part chords for SATB in root, first and second inversion, adding a bass line to a tune or vice versa and transposing (any interval).
NOTE: There is currently no Answer book available for the Revision booklets (unlike the other books in the All-In-One series, where Answers are available) . However do not be discouraged because if stuck, the author herself (Rachel Billings) will help you! If you do not have a teacher to mark your work and need just a little help completing the Revision booklets, please don’t hesitate to contact Rachel directly via the contact page . In effect, you thereby receive your own personal tutor when you purchase a Revision Booklet! (This does not apply in the same way when purchasing other books, since answers are are available for all other books in the series).
NOTE: There is no Answer book available for the Revision booklets (unlike the other books in the All-In-One series, where Answers are available). There is currently insufficient demand for the Revision Booklets to justify the time and expense of writing and printing a corresponding Answer book (most people find the exercises contained in the main books sufficient) . If you do not have a teacher to mark your work and need just a little help completing the Revision booklets, please don’t hesitate to contact Rachel directly via the contact page who will do her best to help, thereby you receive your own personal tutor! (This does not apply in the same way when purchasing other books, since answers are are available for all other books in the series).
